The tapping of the shoe conjures ideas of waiting. The repetitive movement is consistent, but the slow pace adds anticipation and may even require some patience as the shoe hovers, finally taps, and repeats.

Drawing, as a preliminary or reflective tool, provides a different creative mode for sculptors—one without the constraints of gravity or limits of materials. These drawings were created alongside and exhibited with a body of work called “Push Comes to Shove” about survival and ingenuity in a domestic setting.

With things as they are, 2020wood, rubber, tape, paint, joint compound, vinyl, plastic, handles, steel, copper, boot tray Positions of utility are explored through leaning “sticks” referencing any broom, curtain rod, rake, stick, tool, or mop that has been leaned against the wall. The boot tray is reminiscent of a shadow while referencing functionality.
