Sprinkling, Freezing and Crashing

I could actually see the sprinkler with the lights from my studio and the metal shop behind it! Things are cracking and groaning under the weight of the ice and the sprinkler is still oscillating like it’s totally normal.

My latest exploration includes thermochromic pigments to embody change and reveal touch. This first piece has some logistics to work out (how the viewer would touch and if there is an action involved), but I’m excited that touch is made visible and also how it fades. The print and fade reminds me of the task of sweeping (or any other maintenance) and how we repeat our work over and over. 🧹🤏🏻 #broom #sculpture #thermochromicpaint #lisawalcott Sock sculpture #WIP Trying to figure out how the pair will interact—any thoughts? #lisawalcott #kineticsculpture The slo mo video was totally an accident, but it is pretty funny with this especially absurd sculpture. #kineticsculpture #lisawalcott Bristly tool type thing with kinetics (model) #lisawalcott #kineticsculpture #broomtool Keychain mini broom might actually come in handy? I think it needs some stitching. #broommaking #sculpture #lisawalcott Next iteration of the bristled rug. The first one had a plastered and painted rug making it more difficult to recognize as a rug. Since I’m thinking about sweeping things under as well levitating carpets, I wanted to try again where the rug is more overt. #sculpture #lisawalcott
